April 26th, 2023 is our opening date this spring.

March made its grand announcement surprising us with a winter wonderland.

There is something about March that one feels winter is on its way out. Not this year though! The snow storm in Yarmouth County came roaring in on Friday, March the 3rd, leaving many of us trying to dig out well into the weekend. I took advantage of the snow to get out my cross county skis, and take in a scenic 2 km trail. So refreshing and brought me great joy to be out in mother nature, experiencing her beauty during what could be the last big snow storm of the season. For this blog post I included a picture of the scenic Quinan River, which runs beside our nursery here at Inner Oaks

I walked around the nursery and took a few pictures. Everything is under a warm blanket of snow. I just got word our seed order has arrived. If anyone is looking for organic seeds from Hawthorn Organic Farms, we are going to have them this week. I'll make a post on our Inner Oaks FB page by the end of the week, and you can place your order. While we focus on herbs we also brought in vegetable seeds. Come April we will be potting up herb plants, and offering them for sale on our plant stand by early May. Many of the herbs will be ours from our gardens, and also seedlings that we bring in. We are specializing in larger lavenders, Munstead variety which will be available to go by the end of April. We will have all sizes of lavender available.

We have started restocking our gift shop, with fresh honey and maple syrup, along with a blend of herbal teas that we grow and prepare here on site. We are in the process of making new pottery bowls, for the shop, as last year's stock sold out. Again this year we will be carrying local soaps and other hand crafted items that we like.

Our first culinary experience takes place on May the 3rd starting at 10:00 a.m. - more to come on this. We are also offering two herb workshops and lunch on May the 24th and 27th, be sure and book these early when we advertise them as they were sold out last year. If you are from away, and want to attend, keep in mind we now offer an overnight stay here on site, which includes breakfast. These workshops are a great way to get to know the herbs you like and learn about new ones, we will talk about choosing your herbs, and caring for them, including when to harvest, and where you can incorporate them into your teas and food dishes. Then we serve a tasty luncheon! It's a fun informative day. This will be shared on the FB page and you can always e-mail us for more information. laurastastes@gmail.com

NEW THIS YEAR: Having the new guest rooms will also allow a 24 hour Soul Boost experience. I’m being led to host an experience that offers a place to connect to oneself. Life can get busy, and in the mist of it all we forget about taking care of ourselves, so this experience will be designed personally for you and your needs. It will include physical activity, reflection time, journaling, intentions, affirmations and getting clear on what you would like to see for yourself going forward. Over-night stay and meals will be included.

So lots new. The weather will soon be shifting and we will be back in the swing of things.

Were currently prepping the greenhouse for our season.

Inclosing, thank you for stopping by our website and seeing what were up to. Feel free to reach out any time with your inquiries.

As always - much gratitude! Be well.
