Welcome to Inner Oaks Holistic Approach Experiences
We are located in the heart of Quinan, N.S. a quaint French Acadian village in Yarmouth County, about 25 minutes inland from Yarmouth.
We invite you to join us at Inner Oaks for an on-site visit to see our collection of fresh herbs, tour the nursery, enjoy tisane on the covered veranda, take-in a culinary, or soul boosting experience and visit our gift shop.
We are open seasonally by appointment – reach out on email at laurastastes@gmail.com The address coordinates are provided by e-mail once the appointment is confirmed.
Get immersed in the experience of Inner Oaks by seeing our most recent video:
Each September, our community hosts a Labour Day Picnic and in the spring a Wild Game Dinner, put on by volunteers. Both of which take place at our local community hall.
In its day, Quinan was well known for hunting and fishing. People came from all over to connect with our local guides.
One of these guides was Pierre Vacon, a dear departed friend of ours. He told us of the time he had a guest who was so fast and accurate with a rock that he could hunt rabbits and partridge with it. It turns out that it was the famous baseball player Babe Ruth.
We are also known for our dark skies. The ability to see the stars and planets clearly, connects us to mother earth and father universe. We are fortunate to have the Deep Sky Observatory just down the road. There, Tim offers night sky viewing up close with his unique experience. https://www.deepskyeye.com/
Many years ago our community was referred to as “The Forks”, and by our native ancestors as Mawtoqag, where two rivers meet and flow together. The Quinan River flows into the Tusket River.
Inner Oaks is located directly on the Quinan River, not far from where the rivers join. In the spring, while we’re sipping beverages on our covered veranda we often see outdoor enthusiast in canoes and kayaks running the rapids.
We felt this was the perfect place to establish Inner Oaks Holistic Approach Experiences.
The word "Inner" was chosen for inner healing and "Oaks" because the property is lined with oak trees, which represent strength. Their roots intertwine underground with such grace, supporting and communicating with one another. It’s amazing how the older trees look out for the younger ones, guiding them in ways that demonstrates their love and interconnectedness.
Similar to a seed being planted, Inner Oaks will grow and expand in services as we continue to pour our love, attention, and nurturing into this beautiful property. We are looking forward to our blossoms reaching out when the timing is right.
* Currently the herb and gift shop is open seasonally by appointment.
Meet Laura Muise, your host.
Welcome,
When the opportunity came about to open a registered farm and gift shop I was excited at the thought.
I was born in a family with seven siblings in a home surrounded by the ocean in Argyle Sound, N.S. Growing up I learned from my parents how to grow and harvest our own food on our family homestead.
Later in life I spent the majority of my time in the restaurant industry. I have been blessed with a wonderful family, and the opportunity of having great passion and love for my work. I especially loved owning my own restaurant, planting the herb gardens and planning for the guests to arrive. Over the years I enjoyed organizing private events, hosting culinary experiences, creative cooking, food styling, food photography, showcasing food in film, and hosting experiences for tourism.
When Inner Oaks presented itself, I immediately felt I had an opportunity to once again be back working with food and mingling with guests, only this time I’d be taking a slightly different approach.
I feel I am being guided to open Inner Oaks; this project is calling out directly to my soul. The opportunity to honor this property, reconnect with Mother Earth and lead from a healthy healing approach feels right at this time.
I appreciate your patience as this new business unfolds. Until then, please visit our culinary herb and gift shop.
I welcome you to Inner Oaks Holistic Approach Experiences.
